ThHotee East Coast city of Philadelphia is experiencing a hotel expansion, with numerous new hotels opening in the city and several properties under construction. By the end of 2019, the city is expected to celebrate a 10.9% year-on-year increase in room supply.

Upcoming hotel openings in Philadelphia in 2019 and 2020 include:

Opening of Four Seasons Philadelphia: Opening in Mid-2019
Set to occupy the top floors of the impressive new 60-story Comcast Innovation and Technology Center, which is Philadelphia’s tallest tower, the new Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia will provide guests with breath-taking and unobstructed 360° views of the city and outstanding service when it opens in mid-2019. The hotel will be the most highly situated hotel above street-level in North America, occupying the top 12 floors of the 60-story building at Arch and 19th Street. With a sleek minimalist design, the 219-roomed hotel will house three high-tech meeting rooms, two ballrooms and event rooms, a 57th-floor salon and spa, a fitness centre with a floor-to-ceiling media wall, and an infinity pool framed by double-height windows. The new sky-high hotel will include 39 luxurious suites and will also play host to Michelin-starred chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who will debut a new restaurant on the top two floors connected by a waterfall staircase. Additionally, Chef Greg Vernick will open a seafood restaurant, Vernick Fish, with 140 seats inside and 60 outside, along with Vernick Coffee Bar on the ground floor of the Comcast entrance, which is already open to the public. Furthermore, the spa and lobby bar atop the hotel will be open to the public, so travellers do not have to be a guest to experience the incredible views. Designed by architect Norman Foster, the new skyscraper is the latest addition to the ‘vertical campus’ in Philadelphia created by media conglomerate Comcast, which is Sky’s parent company. Pod Philly Hotel: Opening in Autumn 2019
Pod Philly Hotel, Philadelphia’s first micro-hotel, will open in autumn 2019. The 11-storey 100,000 square feet hotel will feature 252 rooms averaging 170 square feet. Rooms include space-efficient queen and bunk bed rooms, barn doors, built-in storage and high-tech amenities that allow guests to stream their own media. The hotel will have a first-floor restaurant and coffee bar, and a retractable greenhouse-styled rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city, 31 South 19th Street. Mainstay/Ascend Hotel: Opening in Late 2019
Mainstay/Ascend Hotel will open in late 2019 in Philadelphia’s Chinatown with 119 rooms. The hotel will be just steps away from the Pennsylvania Convention Center at 917 Arch Street and will include locally-inspired artwork and a fitness center. For more information, visit www.choicehotels.com.

Opening of W and Element Hotels: Opening in January 2020
Located at 15th and Chestnut Street, Starwood’s new dual-branded W and Element Hotels property is projected for completion in January 2020. The 290-room W Philadelphia and 460-room Element Philadelphia Hotel will occupy a 52-story tower and offer guests panoramic city views, an outdoor pool bar and terrace and meeting facilities. The two hotels will share a common design theme inspired by the city’s environment and culture, including influences from the rich industrial heritage of Philadelphia and the historic Fairmount park. The 13-story Centric Hotel by Hyatt, which opens in 2020, will feature over 330 stylish guestrooms, 40 spacious and modern executive suite, meeting space, retails shops, a rooftop garden, and underground parking.
