Known as the ‘birthplace of America’, Philadelphia will proudly celebrate its significance in America’s history books this summer with an exhilarating array of Independence Day events on 4^th July 2019 and throughout Labour Day weekend from 31^st August – 1^st September, when the city will also once again host Jay-Z’s Made in America Festival.

The World Heritage City of Philadelphia played an instrumental role in the American Revolution and the city’s Independence National Historical Park is now home to the iconic Liberty Bell and also Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was drafted, debated and subsequently adopted on 4^th July 1776. To celebrate Independence Day, Philadelphia annually hosts a five-day schedule of events citywide, including The United States of America’s Independence Day Parade on 4^th July 2019. Later in the summer, Jay-Z’s Made in America Festival will return to Philadelphia and will see acts including Travis Scott, Cardi B and Jorja Smith perform during America’s Labor Day weekend from 31^st August – 1^st September 2019.

Wawa Welcome America: 30^th June – 4^th July 2019
Visitors and locals in Philadelphia will celebrate America’s Independence with five days of free events citywide, including block parties, movies nights, spectacular fireworks and concerts from world-renowned entertainers. The multi-day festivities will conclude on Independence Day with a party on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway with an impressive firework display and free concert at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Additionally, several museums will offer visitors complimentary access during the week, including the National Constitution Center on 28^th June, the Philadelphia Museum of Art on 1^st and 2^nd July and a free museum night at Eastern State Penitentiary on 29^th June. The United States of America’s Independence Day Parade: 4^th July 2019
As part of Wawa Welcome America’s final celebrations, The United States of America’s Independence Day Parade will take place on 4^th July 2019. Starting at 11am at 5^th and Chestnut Streets, spectators of the procession are encouraged to dress in red, white and blue before cheering on performance groups and floats from seven different states. The parade is America’s only Independence Day parade to pass in front of the city’s Independence Hall, where the U.S. constitution was signed over 200 years ago. Made in America Festival: 31^st August – 1^st September 2019
Produced by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, the annual Made in America is an electrifying music festival that aims to benefit those in need. Held over two days from 31^st – 1^st September 2019, the festival will feature a variety of hip hop, rock, pop, R&B and EDM music artists across three stages on the city’s famous Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The line-up of acts this year includes Travis Scott, Cardi B, Jorja Smith and James Blake and this year’s festival will donate a proportion or its proceeds to a number of local and national charities and organisations.
